O. Akintomide is an Academic Technologist and Researcher in the Department of Physics with Electronics at the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, Nigeria. He had his tutelage at the Federal Polytechnic Offa, where he obtained an HND in Physics/Electronics (Upper Credit) in 2005. Thereafter, he acquired a B.Sc Hons. (Second Class Upper) and an M.Tech (with Distinction) from Joseph Ayo Babalola University and Federal University of Technology Akure, respectively. He also attended a short training programme at the University of Turku, Finland. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, with headquarters in New York City, and a member of the Nigeria Institute of Science Laboratory Technology. He specialises in Electronics, Instrumentation, and Measurement. His working experience spans engineering firms, tertiary laboratories, and classrooms, and he has worked in Nigeria for several years.
Furthermore, he has research collaborations with researchers and reputable institutions, both locally and internationally. He is one of the global scientists who generate real-time data on air quality and meteorological parameters at the ground level and upload it to the internet for free public consumption. He uses technology to address ever-dynamic societal challenges such as public health (air quality monitoring using the ground station, noise level monitoring, dosimetry of radiations), QoS of radio communication systems, sustainability (combating climate change, clean energy), and quality education for young people. In addition, he uses data analytics, computation, and embedded systems for multidisciplinary research collaborations, which have resulted in publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at conferences, workshops, and seminars. He has served on committees at the faculty and university levels. Also, he has participated in community, national, and international projects. He is passionate about reducing the poverty level in sub-Saharan Africa by mentoring and training young people.
