Akaninyene Joseph is a Lecturer in the Department of Biosciences and Biotechnology (Environmental Management and Toxicology unit), University of Medical Sciences, Ondo State, Nigeria, and majors in Environmental Pollution and Toxicology, Environmental Health, and Food Safety. As an Environmental Toxicologist and research data analyst, my research focuses on the harmful effects of emerging contaminants of global concern (micro-plastics, organo-chlorinated and organo-phosphate pesticides, radionuclides, polychlorinated biphenyls, personal care products, pharmaceuticals, poly-aromatic hydrocarbons, heavy metals, etc.) on the environment, their endocrine disrupting potential on biological organisms, and health implications to humans. My research also emphasizes on the remediation of contaminated sites and health/ecological risk assessment of anthropogenic contaminants. My career goal is to contribute in solving global environmental issues, for the attainment of the United Nations sustainability goal of good health and well-being.
