I am a lecturer in the Department of Humanities, General Studies and Bioethics, University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, Nigeria. Prior to my appointment, I had taught Use of English courses at undergraduate level at the Centre for General Studies, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria.
My research interest had been in the investigation of language use in different discourse domains, highlighting particularly its deployment in the construction, negotiation and resistance of power and ideology by the powerful and the oppressed and subordinated groups in the Nigeria sociopolitical space. Lately, I have refocused my research attention to gender and sexuality, the livability and the lived experiences of the queer agents, especially how they navigate their sexual identity in a deeply cultural and religious space like Nigeria.
My research interests crisscross gender and sexuality studies, media and digital communication, political discourse, as well as English for Specific Purposes (ESP). I have journal articles as well as ongoing works, in these areas of research published in reputable journals.
