The University of Medical Sciences, Ondo (UNIMED) once again demonstrated its commitment to nurturing future leaders by sponsoring the 4th Primary School Debate Competition at the Civic Centre. The event was organized by the Centre for Gender and Health Equity, under the leadership of Prof. Nireti Duyilemi.
Representing UNIMED’s first female Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, Prof. Duyilemi encouraged the pupils, saying, “Education is powerful, and we are committed to catching our pupils young to prepare them for a bright future. The essence of this debate is to give you confidence and boldness to excel academically.”
The debate, themed “Education is better than Wealth,” saw pupils from Ondo East Local Government argue for the motion, ultimately winning the trophy. Pupils from Ondo West excelled in the quiz competition, earning their own trophy and cash award.
Commending all participants and teachers, Prof. Duyilemi advised, “Face your studies squarely, stay away from social vices, and work hard. We look forward to welcoming many of you to UNIMED, where learning meets community service.”
Distinguished guests included Chief Femi Bello, Mr. Akinboye G.O, Elder Ijelu, Honourable Mrs. Adefisoye, and Mrs. Ronke Oluwole. The event highlighted UNIMED’s ongoing commitment to education, community engagement, and the empowerment of future generations.
