CALL FOR APPLICATION INTO B.SC. CONVERSION PROGRAMMES FOR 2025/2026 SESSION

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the University of Medical Sciences, B.Sc. Conversion Programmes under the Institute of Distance Learning and Continuing Education, Akure Campus.

General Requirements for All UNIMED B. Sc. Conversion Programmes

1. A candidate for B. Sc. Conversion Programme in UNIMED must have obtained 5 credit passes in the following O’level subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in WAEC/NECO/GCE in not more than two (2) sittings. NABTEB is acceptable for Health Information Management (HIM) programme as well as programmes in the Faculty of Science.

2. Evidence of NYSC discharge/exemption certificate. Any candidates without NYSC discharge/exemption certificate will be ready to sign a letter of undertaking authenticated by a law court.

3. Academic/Official transcripts must be processed and mandatorily submitted to the Office of Director, Institute of Distance Learning and Continuing Education before any candidate can be shortlisted for admission. An electronic copy of the official transcript can be forwarded to: idlcetranscript@unimed.edu.ng.

The following are the available courses under the various faculties:

FACULTY OF ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES

B. Sc. Conversion Programme in Health Information Management (HIM)

Duration: Two (2) years, 3 semesters per year

Admission Requirements

Candidates shall hold a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Health Information Management with a minimum of Lower Credit from recognised and accredited training schools.

FACULTY OF DENTAL SCIENCES

BDent Therapy Conversion Programme

Programme Duration – Two (2) years, 3 semesters per year

Admission Requirements

Higher National Diploma in Dental Therapy with a minimum of Upper Credit.

The candidate must also obtain a satisfactory pass at any further examination conducted by the University.

B. Sc. Conversion Programme in Dental Technology

Programme Duration – Two (2) years, 3 semesters per year

Admission Requirements

All candidates for admission to the B. Sc (Dental Technology) degree by conversion must possess a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Dental Technology with a minimum of Lower Credit pass.

Candidate must also obtain satisfactory pass at any further examination conducted by the University.

FACULTY OF MEDICAL REHABILITATION

Transitional-Doctor of Physiotherapy Conversion Programme

Admission Requirements for 18 months duration (3 semesters)

Candidate must have obtained a first degree- B. Sc PT, BMR PT, or BPT – with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division.

Candidate must possess current MRTB practicing license.

Candidates with a Third Class degree in Physiotherapy and a Postgraduate National Diploma certificate in any relevant field can also be offered admission into the 18-months programme.

Admission Requirements for 12 months duration (2 semesters)

The candidate must satisfy the minimum requirements as stipulated for the 18 months programme.

The candidate must have additional postgraduate qualification(s) i.e., M. Sc in Physiotherapy or relevant fields (MPH, MSc in Exercise Science, Physiology, Anatomy or Biochemistry).

B. PO. Conversion Programme in Prosthetics and Orthotics

Duration of Programme: six (6) semesters.

Admission Requirements

Candidates shall possess a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Prosthetics and Orthotics Technology with a minimum of Lower Credit from a recognised / approved institution.

Candidate must possess current MRTB practicing license.

FACULTY OF SCIENCE

B. Sc. Conversion Programme in Computer Science

Duration: 2 years, 3 semesters per year

Admission Requirements

Candidate must have an HND in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Physics Electronics or Core Engineering: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics with a minimum of Lower Credit.

Candidate with a Third-Class degree in any of the above mentioned disciplines from any University recognised by Nigerian University Commission (NUC) can apply. Also, applicants with B. Ed Computer Science (having a minimum of Second Class Lower Division) can apply.

B. Sc. Conversion Programme in Microbiology

Duration: 2 years, 3 Semesters per year.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must possess an HND Certificate with a minimum of Lower Credit or a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of a Pass in a related discipline from any recognised University or Polytechnic.

B. Sc. Conversion Programme in Physics

Duration: 2 years, 3 Semesters per year.

Areas of specialization: (i) Physics (ii) Physics with Electronics (iii).Medical Physics

Admission Requirements

An applicant must possess any of the following:

Higher National Diploma (HND) in Physics with Electronics, Electrical/Electronics with Lower Credit.

Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) with a Third Class degree from any recognised University.

Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) or Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng) in Electrical/Electronic with Third Class degree.

Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) in Integrated Science with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division.

B. Sc. Conversion Programme in Science Laboratory Technology (SLT)

Duration: 2 years, 3 Semesters per year.

The techniques available are:

(i) Biochemistry Techniques (ii) Biology and Computational Biology Techniques (iii) Chemistry Techniques (iv) Industrial Mathematics and Statistics Techniques (iv) Microbiology Techniques (v) Physics with Electronics Techniques

Admission Requirements

Candidates must possess B. Sc. (minimum of Pass or Third Class Honours) or HND (minimum of Lower Credit grade) in a related discipline from recognised institutions.

SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH

B.Sc. Conversion Programmes in Community Health & Environmental Health Science

(Duration: 2 years, 3 Semesters per year)

Admission criteria for Community Health

Candidate must have Community Health Officer (CHO) certificate with current license.

Admission Requirements for Environmental Health

Candidate must have HND in Environmental Health.

Eligible candidates should log on to University website www.unimed.edu.ng . Then, take the following steps: i

i. Click on Admission;

ii. Click on B.Sc Conversion;

iii. Click on PAYMENT to make payment via online payment system usingVISA or MASTER Card. Note that VERVE Card is not allowed;

iv. After payment, Print Payment Receipt

v. Click on APPLICATION FORM with your Payment Transaction ID to complete the form.
