It is with joy that I welcome you to the Department of Population, Family & Reproductive Health (PFRH), School of Public Health, the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED) where we prepare students to tackle current, emerging and reemerging public health challenges relating specifically to individuals, families and cities around the world. At the Department of PFRH, we offer Postgraduate Diplomas (PGD), Master’s and PhD programmes in public health, with a focus on population studies, sexual & reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and demography. Our full time faculty are seasoned sexual and reproductive health experts, experienced demographers and senior public health consultants with extensive teaching, research and community development ethics and ethos.
Our adjunct faculty include seasoned nutrition and dieticians, top management staff from the Ministry of Health, Primary Health Care Development Agency, Hospitals' Management Board and Contributory Health Commission. Our strength lies on adoption of innovative, interactive and problem-solving teaching methods to deliver cutting-edge content on the latest developments in public health. Our curriculum emphasizes the practical application of course materials, ensuring that our graduates leave with the knowledge and skills needed to make meaningful contributions to the field of population studies, including SRHR.
In addition to teaching and interdisciplinary research as adjuct lecturers in related departments in the School of Public Health, our faculty members are actively involved in community development, consultancy for NGOs and intergovernmental organisations, among others.
