It is with great delight that I welcome you to the Institute of Community Health Innovation and Development, University of Medical Sciences, Ondo City.
Imagine a medical university with no positive impact on the health and wellbeing of its immediate community and the country at large but only takes pride in volumes of archived academic research outputs that are of little or no significance in tackling prevalent challenges undermining effective delivery of basic health care in the society. Such an institution would certainly be of no relevance in the pursuit to improving the quality and coverage of basic health care delivery in the country.
It is in view of this that the Institute of Community Health Innovation and Development (ICHIAD) was established, with the mandate to provide community services and innovative research for evidence-based results that could inform policy formulation and programme implementation; towards the development of basic health care delivery in the country. Our goal is to positively contribute to the health of the population and proffer evidence-based solutions to address challenges militating against effective delivery of basic health care, thereby contributing to the development of that tier of health system in the country.
It is noteworthy that the institute is currently operational in 3 different geo-demographic political wards in 3 Local Government Areas of Ondo State, driving implementation research that are designed to address notable defects in the current PHC delivery system in the country and positively affecting the health and wellbeing of the community people as well.
We challenge you to prepare for community health-impacting interventions and innovative research works designed to address some challenges undermining the delivery effective and socially-inclusive PHC services nation-wide.
Welcome to the Institute of Community Health Innovation and Development, University of Medical Sciences, Ondo City.
