A novelty match between members of Staff and Students of the University of Medical Sciences, (UNIMED), Ondo has ended 3-1 in favour of the Student’s team.

All three goals by the student’s team were scored in the first 45 minutes of the game and the staff team couldn’t equalize despite the brilliant performance by the Dean of Faculty of Dental Sciences, Prof. A.O Loto.

Chairman of the UNIMED Convocation ceremony Committee, Prof. W.O Olu-Aderounmu scored the only goal for the staff team but was substituted barely 15 minutes into the game.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Friday Okonofua represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Adeseye Arogunjo was the center referee during the second half of the match. Two penalty kicks were awarded to the Staff team during the game but the goalkeeper, Ezra from Physiology department, denied the staff team of any opportunity of equalizing.

The novelty match was organized as part of activities marking the first convocation ceremony of the university which comes up on Friday, December 13, 2019.

Former Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof. O.A. Bamiro is going to deliver the convocation lecture on Thursday, December 12 while an interactive session with Friends and Parents comes tomorrow, Wednesday, December 11, 2019.
