Akeredolu Constitutes New Governing Council for UNIMED

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has approved the constitution of a new Governing Council for the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo City, Ondo State.

According to a press release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Richard Olatunde on Tuesday August 23, 2022, the move is aimed at consolidating the gains of Akeredolu’s administration in the education sector and to further strengthen its development.

A renowned professor of general obstetrics and gynaecology, Ayo Arowojolu was named as the new Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council. Professor Ayo Arowojolu is a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria with over 35 years of experience in teaching, planning, and organization of health services. He had been involved in the organization of training, health research and clinical practice.

Arowojolu got his training in Nigeria, the UK and the USA, and has worked as a resource person to many governmental and non-governmental organizations in areas of reproductive health management, research and training.

Other members of the Council are Prof. Tolu Odugbemi; Chief Adetola Wewe; Dr. Adeluse Obe; Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Prof. Francis Faduyile; Ondo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Banji Awolowo Ajaka; Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Femi Agagu.

Also in the Council are Mr. Niyi Kukoyi, Esq; Surveyor Niran Akinniyi, Dr. Yemi Mahmud and Otunba Wale Akinboboye.

 

Governor Akeredolu congratulated the appointees, while charging them to contribute their quotas to the development of Tertiary institutions in the State and strengthen education development.
